Our Young Gardeners Programme supports young people with additional needs and their families, providing an inclusive and accessible gardening programme.
We develop and nurture the gardening skills of our beneficiaries as well as providing the opportunity to develop friendships and social groups.
For a number of young people with additional needs, they attend a school that is not close to home which can result in them feeling isolated, this means they can find it difficult to build and maintain friendships and strong bonds with their peers outside of school.
This programme gives our participants the opportunity to meet with like-minded people and learn new skills as well as developing new connections.
Families meet once a month on a weekend, which allows parents to share ideas, socialise and support each other. This programme is much more than simply teaching young people how to grow vegetables and plants, it helps to grow strong and lasting friendships and relationships too.
